Cadillac is recognized the world over as a marque of luxury, and the all-new Cadillac XTS full size sedan is sending the message that General Motors is ready to compete fiercely in the luxury sedan space. Cadillac is the second longest-running car manufacturer in the U.S., behind only its cousin brand Buick, but from the all-new Cadillac XTS, most car buyers would not be able to guess.

Quality is readily visible in a quick glance, and if all you see is a quick glance of the Cadillac XTS, you’ll be a believer. Cadillac left no detail unconsidered in designing the exterior and interior of the XTS, so much so that although it is a sedan, it manages to evoke the image of a sports car. Clean lines wrap the car’s exterior with the distinctive Cadillac emblem fixed proudly in the attractive center grille.

The Cadillac XTS interior sports exotic wood and brushed metal finishes beginning in the center console and wrapping around the dashboard into the door panels in a picturesque wingtip design. Purchasers will be able to choose from five different color themes within four trim levels for the leather wrapped seats and suede headliner (which will only be available on the Platinum trim package).

Technology And Safety

Cadillac says that the Cadillac XTS is the “perfect balance between agility and composure”, and the technologies riding under the hood of the XTS should give any driver confidence in that statement. Powered by a direct-injection 3.6L V6 engine, the Cadillac XTS has power and fuel economy, with an EPA estimated 17 mpg city / 28 mpg highway. Magnetic ride shocks cushion the impact of nearly any likely road condition while high-performance Brembo brakes help guard against collisions with a collision warning system with autobraking capability.

The Cadillac XTS provides ten interior airbags. An 8-inch LCD touchscreen is the centerpiece of the console, understanding tap, flick, and swipe commands and responding with a “pulse” so that drivers know commands have been understood. This is Cadillac’s Customer User Experience, or CUE, interface, designed to make driving intuitive and entertaining, showing that the Cadillac XTS is on the cutting edge of technology inside and out.

The 2013 Cadillac XTS will be available in dealerships this fall, and any car buyer considering a full size sedan should have this car on their list.

The 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe is an attractive luxury two-door with smooth, sleek lines that are accentuated by auto-touch door handles. Fitted with a standard 3.6-liter DOHC V6 direct injection engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, it is a mixture of power and comfort. The standard CTS Coupe model produces 318 horsepower at 6800 rpm with 275 ft-lbs of torque at 4900 rpm. It runs on regular unleaded gasoline, and it offers reasonable fuel economy numbers of 18 miles per gallon in the city and 27 mpg on the open highway. With an 18-gallon gas tank as standard, these figures produce a driving range of 314 miles in city travel, or up to 486 miles on the open road.

A smooth ride in the CTS Coupe is ensured by the Nurburgring tested and tuned suspension system, which also aids in precision handling. With a tight turning circle of 35.4 feet, it is a nimble vehicle for its size. It is available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options, and all models come with an ultrasonic rear park assist, 4-wheel ABS, stability control and traction control. The list of safety features in the CTS Coupe is extensive and also includes OnStar protection free for one year with airbag deployment sensors, stolen vehicle tracking and automatic emergency service contact.

Standard features in the CTS Coupe include dual zone climate control, a Bose 8-speaker sound system, adaptive remote start and a Sirius XM satellite radio. The car’s spacious interior offers almost 37 inches of head room, 54.5 inches of hip room and 42.5 inches of leg room in the front leatherette bucket seats. Rear seat room is a little more compact, but is still very comfortable for a two-door.

The performance and premium models of the CTS Coupe offer a few extra luxuries such as high-intensity discharge floodlights, heated front seats, ventilated seats and auto cabin air filtration. The 8-speaker Bose system can also be improved to a 10-speaker set up in the performance model. Rainsense wipers are available as an added option for the premium model.

Since its release, the 2012 Cadillac SRX has enjoyed adulation and rave reviews as a premier luxury SUV, admired and critically acclaimed for its smooth handling, superior performance and sleek and rugged exteriors. Its powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine is much quieter and more efficient than that of the earlier models. While the luxury features of this crossover SUV will excite the motoring enthusiast in you, it is the SRX safety features that will give you a feeling of absolute peace in this powerful automobile.

The SRX safety rating is among the highest in the industry as ranked by reviewers and test car drivers. Currently undergoing further testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2012 SRX has passed its rollover safety test with four out of five stars and looks all set to emulate the near-perfect safety record of the 2011 model.

Safety Ratings and Accessories

The 2012 Cadillac SRX demonstrates superior safety and handling, receiving a rating of ‘Good’ in the frontal offset crash test by the IIHS. The SRX safety experts and industry reviewers have rated the SRX’s body to be one of the safest on the road, being made from low carbon Martensitic steel alloy.

An important indicator of GM’s attention to SRX safety in the 2012 version is the consistency of safety features across the four trims: Standard, Premium, Performance and Luxury, designed to keep you and your family safe in style. Some of the important SRX safety features that have given it the title of ‘Safest Luxury SUV’ include anti-skid, anti-lock vented brakes with ABS on all four wheels, all-speed traction control, onboard tire pressure monitoring device, occupant sensing system and rain-sensing wipers. Some of the other notable SRX safety features include stolen car assistance, real-time turn navigation system, dual airbags and side head curtain airbag designed to protect your head in the event of a collision from the side.

While the 2012 Cadillac SRX excels in performance and handling it is also known for its state-of-the-art safety features that you can trust, making it indeed the safest SUV on the road today.

When you’re designing safety features on a very popular and well regarded model SUV, you never can be too careful. As a manufacturer you want to do everything possible to diminish any negative returns on your ride. General Motors is doing everything they can to help improve the 2012 Cadillac safety in their 2012 Escalade models.

Everybody wants to be liked; from their record of being stolen so much one could surmise that Escalades past were indeed very well liked. In the 2012 Cadillac safety is job number one. The Escalade in particular is going to be one model vehicle that thieves will learn quickly to pass up.

Some of the 2012 Cadillac safety features on the Escalade include things like

PASS Key 3+, an encryption system for the key, key cylinder and ignition system which is designed to deter drive-off thefts.

An improved steering column lock system. This system makes push away thefts nearly impossible.

Other available safety features include a sensor which triggers an alarm when the incline of the vehicle is changed (i.e. when the vehicles are towed away or moved onto flatbeds), shock sensors which triggers an alarm when the vehicle is “shocked” (i.e. broken glass; pushed away), and an available wheel lock system which ensures wheels and tires stay with your vehicle.

Cadillac Escalades also offer OnStar technology from GM so the vehicle can’t be started if a break in is detected.

All in all many of the new 2012 Cadillac safety features on the Escalade look to make stolen Escalades far less common.

DETROIT — Cadillac’s new 3 Series fighter, the 2013 ATS sedan, goes on sale this summer as the smallest, lightest model the brand has sold in years.

Just 0.3 inch longer than a 3 Series, the ATS is built on a new corporate architecture — GM insiders call it Alpha — that supports rear- and all-wheel drive (the ATS can be equipped with either) and is likely to spin off additional variants, including a coupe and a wagon.

The ATS is a Cadillac that’s been designed and outfitted to tackle luxury compacts in global markets. Toward that end, General Motors has built and tuned this new five-passenger sedan to meet world-class standards.

The chassis employs a five-link rear and front struts, with ZF variable-assist electric power steering and four-wheel disc brakes (Brembos on the upmarket trim levels). Wheel sizes include 17 and 18 inches, with 225/35ZR19 run-flat all-season tires as the top choice.

As an extra-cost option, the ATS can be fitted with a driver-adjustable FE3 sport suspension with Magnetic Ride Control real-time damping.

Engines start with a base 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit rated at 200 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. A step up is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivering 270 hp and 260 lb-ft, while North America also gets a range-topping 3.6-liter V6 that makes 318 hp and 267 lb-ft. All three DOHC engines are direct-injected. Transmission choices include a Tremec M3L TR3160 six-speed manual and a Hydra-Matic 6L45 six-speed automatic.

Cadillac has loaded up the cockpit of the ATS with plenty of goodies, and trimmed it in a combination of wood, leather, metal and carbon fiber. There’s an LED gauge cluster, plus ambient lighting and such nice touches as push-button start, satellite radio and optional performance seats with power-adjustable bolsters.

Cadillac is making a big deal out of its new CUE infotainment system, which pairs data from your smartphone or other Bluetooth-capable mobile device, all of it accessible via voice command or through an 8-inch LCD multi-touch screen.

Among the available high-tech features are a full-color reconfigurable head-up display, navigation and a Bose surround-sound audio system, as well as front and rear automatic brakes that employ short-range radar and ultrasonic sensors, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind-zone alert, a rear back-up camera and adaptive headlamps. (source: insideline)

DETROIT — General Motors confirmed on Friday that the 2013 Cadillac ATS will make its world premiere in January at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

The Detroit automaker said it is targeting the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 with the ATS.

“ATS is a crucial part of Cadillac’s expansion,” said Mary Barra, GM senior vice president of global product development, in a speech to the Automotive Press Association. “ATS enters the biggest market segment in the global luxury car industry, both in terms of volume and importance.”

It said the debut of the ATS will be one of four GM concept or production vehicles making world premieres at the show. The other three vehicles have not been identified.

The ATS goes into production next summer at the Lansing, Michigan Grand River Assembly plant.

The new entry will be the smallest Cadillac since the Cimmaron, a knockoff of the Chevrolet Cavalier subcompact that was sold by GM from 1982-’88.

Eventually, the ATS range is expected to include a coupe and a convertible, possibly a small wagon and at least one V-Series performance variant by 2015.

The ATS is intended to woo younger import owners.

The 2013 XTS comes in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations and is powered by a direct-injection 3.6-liter V6 mated to a six-speed automatic with “tap shift” controls. The engine delivers 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque.

Cadillac said the XTS will feature an extensive array of advanced technologies, including Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Safety Alert Seat, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Reflected LED Display, Color Head-Up Display, Automatic Brake, Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Collision Preparation.

The basic XTS rides on 19-inch wheels and tires and comes with standard Brembo brakes, rear air suspension and Magnetic Ride Control.

The uplevel XTS Platinum gets polished 20-inch aluminum wheels with chrome inserts, a chrome/satin-chrome grille and full leather interior with Alcantara headliner.

The XTS also provides the first application of GM’s new CUE infotainment system. CUE bundles a suite of infotainment, navigation and communication tools with an intuitive user interface, and also will be featured next year on Cadillac’s new ATS sedan and revised SRX crossover.

The ATS, you may recall, is the all-new compact luxury sport sedan with which Cadillac hopes to launch its first serious challenge to the BMW 3 Series, the sector’s long-running champ.

Cadillac engineers took the ATS prototype to the ‘Ring for two weeks in mid-September. The brand has already posted a mostly blacked-out teaser shot of the car on its Facebook page, where Cadillac says it is launching a “behind-the-scenes Web series” on the ATS, as well as photos, stories, specs and more.

The ATS is being developed on the new Alpha rear-wheel-drive architecture that borrows heavily from the underpinnings of the larger CTS and is expected to be used by other GM divisions besides Cadillac. Continue reading for the full video!

DETROIT — General Motors plans to introduce the production version of the new 2013 Cadillac XTS in November at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

GM said it planned to show the production XTS sedan with its new CUE infotainment system. CUE bundles a suite of infotainment, navigation and communication tools with an intuitive user interface, and debuts next year on Cadillac’s new ATS and XTS sedans and the SRX crossover.

The XTS was previewed at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, when GM unveiled the all-wheel-drive XTS Platinum Concept.

The XTS Platinum Concept had a 3.6-liter V6 direct-injection gasoline engine and plug-in hybrid propulsion system delivering an estimated 350 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

GM in August confirmed that the XTS would go into production in Oshawa, Ontario, in spring 2012, replacing the DTS as Cadillac’s largest offering. Click Continue to see additional photos!
